Tips on how to use Twittia
Answer someone
If you want to answer someone just click on her/his name, Twittia inserts the @username and connects your answer to the users message.
Direct message to a user
Hover over a message with your mouse, an additional (d) shows up behind the username, when you click on it Twittia adds a "d username " to your inputfield.
Show the timeline of a user
Just click on the users icon and you get his timeline in Twittia. To get back klick the back-button on the toolbar.
Show a users twitterpage in my browser
Just double click on the users icon and Twittia opens his http://twitter.com/username page in your standardbrowser. There you can follow/unfollow her/him and so on.
Shortcuts
There are shortcuts for all sorts of tasks:
- Cmd-R for Refresh the friends timeline
- Cmd-U for getting to the "Update status" input field
- Cmd-F for getting to the "Search" input field
- Cmd-Q to quit Twittia
- Cmd-⌫ to "hit" the "back" button
- Cmd-, to show the settings
What does this "behaviour" mean?
Twittia lets you use two behaviour modes. One in which Twittia demands much attention with a bouncing dock icon, growl notification, sound and so on when a new tweet arrives. And another without all this when you want to concentrate on something else and not be disturbed by twitter all the time. This two modes are completally configurable.
Twittia on all spaces
This is build into Spaces on Leopard:
System Preferences -> Exposé & Spaces -> Spaces -> Application Assignments -> hit "+" -> chose Twittia -> Space -> "Every Space"
Remove Twittia icon from dock
Try the Dock Dodger app http://foggynoggin.com/dockdodger it's really easy to use.
Spotify integration
If you or your friends are using Spotify and twitter their Spotify URI style Twittia makes this URIs clickable. (You may would like to check out the last.fm integration in Spotify too so you can twitter what you are listening to, too)
Last.fm integration
If you use the last.fm service to shot the world what you are listening to, add your last.fm username to the settings (Cmd+,) add the last.fm-button to your toolbar (Customize toolbar ...) and click on it. When you are listening to something right now, Twittia will twitter @username iis listening to „Song Name“ by „Artist Name“ from the album „Album Name“ for you,
